Role overview:

Stargate has an exciting offer for a Lead Safety Engineer with experience in chemical industries to join our team. You will be taking the lead in all activities at Stargate related to the safe operation of our products and systems, along with an experienced team of engineers developing innovative solutions for the production of green hydrogen. You will take a key role as well on the certification of our products under the applicable directives.

You will be part of a team that works on unique green hydrogen solutions and join us in developing our electrolyzer stacks. You'd fit perfectly into this role and our culture if you are naturally curious, enjoy having a laugh from time to time, and are ready to take ownership of your work.

The position is open to hire internationally, and Stargate will assist international candidates with the relocation process.

What does the day-to-day look like in this role?

The initial scope of the role will depend on your background and experience level. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting risk assessment workshops (HAZOP, FMEA, QRA) to identify potential hazards and failure modes related to the hydrogen production projects (stack and system) developed at Stargate Hydrogen;
  • Developing the safety requirement specifications and other procedures required for the safe operation of the system. Collaborate with the Process, Electrical and Automation team to ensure the reliability of these systems;
  • Oversee the implementation and testing of the required safety systems into the final solution delivered to customers. Develop the required training manuals and programs for operators and customers;
  • Acting as primary point of contact with the corresponding notified bodies in relation to the procedures for final certification of the system under the applicable directives.

Must-have qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (e.g. Chemical, Process, and/or Industrial Engineering);
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical industries in a similar position;
  • Experience in the CE marking process of similar products or systems;
  • Functional Safety Certification;
  • Knowledge about Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX Directive, Machine Directive, and other relevant applicable harmonized standards for industrial installations;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn more about different aspects of electrolysis technology;
  • Ability to work independently, self-disciplined.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Knowledge of hydrogen production from electrolysis technologies.
