As a Power Market Expert, you will help the company thrive in the areas of electricity market design, economics and regulation. The successful candidate will provide market analysis and consultancy services to clients across the value chain, supporting them to shape the future energy markets, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and capable of meeting the demands of a transitioning landscape.

What you’ll do

  • Provide market design consulting services, including interacting with other internal experts and customers;
  • Develop innovative market design approaches, and interact with our experienced team of analytics and optimization experts to connect them to mathematical optimization and analytics approaches that can be further prototyped or tested using our products;
  • Translate complex technical/business matters in key messages through clear and effective communication (oral presentation, slides, reports);
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes, and make sure it is shared to improve our knowledge, consulting services and products;
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including white papers, research reports, and represent the company at industry events and forums;
  • Develop proposals and respond to RFPs to secure new consultancy projects;
  • Be able to understand client needs and feedback, identify main improvement levers and translate advanced analytics solutions into a business-oriented language;
  • Support the team in the definition of the medium- to long-term strategy around energy market topics.

About you

  • You have a Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Energy Policy, or a related field;
  • You have 5+ years of prior experience in the Energy Sector, in areas such as electricity markets, market design, energy market regulation, energy economics, and/or power systems operation;
  • You have a solid understanding of energy market design principles, and their business, economic and technical implications;
  • You can navigate through the regulatory environment of the energy sector and understand the implications for key stakeholders involved;
  • You are familiar with typical energy market optimization problems, such as unit commitment, nodal and zonal pricing, market coupling and market clearing problems;
  • Additional experience with energy system modelling software (e.g. PyPSA, ANTARES, Plexos) is an asset;
  • You can coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project timelines and deliverables;
  • You have strong proactivity, sense of initiative and responsibility;
  • You communicate confidently and explain technical problems in a clear manner;
  • You proactively interact with external and internal stakeholders at all levels;
  • You enjoy solving complex problems; you are customer-minded and results-driven;
  • You are fluent in English. Other languages are an asset.
