Do you want to work in our fast-expanding portfolio of flexible assets? Would it motivate you to be responsible for the analysis and optimization of the value of flexibility and ancillary services for batteries, PtX, solar, and wind assets? Then perhaps you are our new Energy Market Analyst.
European Energy is a green energy company in exponential growth. We develop, construct, and operate projects within solar- (PV) and wind farms globally, as well as Power-to-X. Your new team
You will be part of our Energy Trading & PPA team which is responsible for green power sales to energy distributors and corporate off-takers. The team currently consists of six full-time employees and one student assistant based in our headquarters in Copenhagen.
European Energy is a dynamic work environment and there will be opportunities to get involved in many areas of the business.
How you will create an impact
Your role will be centered around investigating revenue streams for flexible assets and modelling the potential value for European Energy. You are on top of the market and know what is going on, and you will utilize your market intelligence regarding trends in short-term power markets and ancillary services. Combined with your background and experience within energy markets, you will help to increase the financial modelling capacity in the department.
Your workday will be a mixture of days at the office doing market analysis and attending industry events to meet potential partners.
Ad hoc tasks and challenges will be part of the role as the renewable energy business moves into new areas. Expect regular interactions with internal stakeholders as well as project/business developers from wind, solar, PtX, and batteries.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be the first point of contact for project teams who wish to examine the revenue streams from batteries and other flexible assets.
- You will provide analytical support for wind and solar assets participating in ancillary services
- You will build up and maintain knowledge of ancillary service markets in our core countries as well as intraday trading opportunities.
- You will maintain knowledge of requirements and participants in the Balancing Responsible Party/Asset optimization market.
- You will evaluate battery offtake services offered by traders and value the expected return.
- You will build relationships with project developers, external market analysts, and internal stakeholders such as M&A and financing departments.
To thrive in the role, we imagine the following competencies would be important
- You have at least three years of experience in a relevant role, ideally within energy markets.
- You have experience in valuing flexibility in the power markets.
- You have full proficiency in English, oral and written, and additional European language would be an advantage.
- You are experienced at communicating complex findings to stakeholders with different backgrounds.
- You know the short-term power market and ancillary services.
- You are an experienced user of MS Excel to support your analysis.
As a person, you are a self-starter, take initiative, and enjoy working independently with great opportunities for sparring within the team. You are friendly and curious, and you use this to build relationships internally with other departments as well as externally in the energy market.
