At Vattenfall, we’re looking for a Project Manager who will be primarily engaged in the development phase of hybrid Solar and Battery projects and help further build the project portfolio. The role sits within Development Solar and co-located Batteries.

What will you do?

You will help make a strategic plan about building out the solar project portfolio within a short time and develop several projects. During the development phase, you will execute project development activities by taking a senior role in the identification, development and management of solar projects (with co-located battery) from feasibility to financial close in a cost effective, safe and timely manner to achieve pre-defined company targets. Your work will concern a wide range of project activities, helping to build up in a short time a solar and battery portfolio fit for a positive investment decision.

Your responsibilities and summary of tasks:

  • The development of projects via the origination, identification, development and management of solar (and co-located battery) projects from feasibility to financial close in a cost effective, safe and timely manner;
  • Fill and progress the UK large scale Solar and co-located battery portfolio
  • Check and assess grid connection applications, specific the option for co-development with wind projects
  • Source new sites, liaising with land agents (heads of terms) and/or partnerships (joint development agreements)
  • Sync with the UK Onshore wind Development team with regards to development to find synergies and opportunities, and minimize risk regards to stakeholder management
  • Manage all stakeholders including land agents, authorities and civil servants, JDA partners, external consultants and internal and external legal resources
  • Initiate any required environmental and technical assessments to support the project feasibility and consent applications

Who are you?

To be comfortable in this role you bring a higher professional education in science, engineering or equvalent relevant university degree. If you do not possess a degree, then suitable alternative experiences and qualifications should be demonstrated.

We welcome a comprehensive understanding of the UK renewables scene and be able to advise the business on wider matters beyond the specifics of a project.

As our Project Manager Solar and Batteries you will bring:

  • Experience in leading and managing solar with combined battery projects during the development phase including activities associated with sourcing sites, permitting, land rights, PV syst, site design and grid connections
  • Experience of creating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Good commercial acumen and financial understanding of business case
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability influence and lead others
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and changes in priorities
  • Able to work both independently and in a team and build up strong relationships.

To be up and running in this role quickly this experience we see as good to have:

  • Good understanding and feeling for the ‘route to market’ activities and methods (e.g. Corporate PPAs)
  • Experience in large-scale / complex construction projects (e.g. energy, infrastructure)
  • Experience of working cross-culturally and across global locations.
