Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead the delivery on more than one recently awarded projects in the low carbon energy market segment in Europe. This is the fastest growing market segment in the inspection business and the exciting role offers great career growth and learning opportunities. The role involves managing all aspects of a project, including overseeing quality assurance and control, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and industry best practices. The successful candidate will oversee vendor surveillance, fabrication yard inspections, and construction site quality assurance activities, driving performance and ensuring project milestones are met efficiently and effectively.
This position requires expertise in low carbon projects, this includes but is not limited to offshore wind projects and knowledge of other renewable industries such as CCUS, Solar and sustainable power solutions. The candidate must have a strong project management and communication skills, a good network within the industry and a background in quality management and assurance across all project phases, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction.
Looking for candidate who can support us in the management of current projects on the East and West Coast of UK, and will be active part in the creation of our Renewable HUB in Manchester, Stockport area. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for growing the Renewable market for DNV Inspection in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Serve as the focal point for all project activities and communication with stakeholders.
- Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP), ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate the execution of quality assurance and control activities during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Drive adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversight for Offshore Wind Projects:
- Manage inspections at fabrication yards, vendor facilities, and offshore construction sites, ensuring compliance with project-specific standards for offshore wind.
- Oversee the review and approval of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans, and documentation related to offshore wind farm components, including turbines, foundations, cabling, and electrical systems.
- Supervise vendor surveillance and ensure quality assurance of critical equipment, including turbines, substations, and high-voltage equipment.
- Address non-conformance issues promptly and effectively through corrective action plans.
Stakeholder and Resource Management:
- Collaborate with client representatives, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless coordination and execution of quality assurance and control activities.
- Deploy and manage qualified engineers, technical resources and inspectors across disciplines such as welding, NDT, coatings, electrical systems, and hazardous area inspections.
- Act as the liaison between client and contractors, facilitating resolution of quality and technical issues.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit detailed reports, including daily progress updates, non-conformance reports (NCRs), inspection reports, and monthly project summaries.
- Maintain accurate and traceable project records, including lessons learned and quality improvement opportunities.
About you
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in offshore wind projects or similar renewable energy sectors.
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (IRCA-certified or equivalent).
- Extensive knowledge of offshore wind standards, including DNV GL, IEC, and other relevant industry guidelines.
- Proven expertise in overseeing fabrication yard inspections, vendor surveillance, and site quality assurance activities.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong knowledge of offshore wind components, including turbines, monopiles, jackets, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with fabrication and installation techniques specific to offshore wind, such as subsea cable laying, turbine erection, and commissioning.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and risk-based quality management approaches.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to offshore construction sites, fabrication yards, and vendor locations globally.
- A commitment to promoting a strong safety culture and adherence to high ethical standards.
