Main responsibilities:

The Global Sustainability and Communications teams are looking for an experienced Sustainability Communications Lead who is ready to play a pivotal role in 1) positioning Opella as a global leader in fast-moving consumer healthcare externally and 2) igniting and mobilizing Opella’s global employee base (11,000+) around its sustainability mission.

The Sustainability Communications Lead will

  • Develop and implement communication strategies that effectively convey Opella’s sustainability/ESG initiatives and progress to internal and external stakeholders. The strategy will drive awareness, understanding, and support for Opella’s sustainability goals and achievements;
  • Craft compelling content and key messages, and manage sustainability-focused campaigns for multiple audiences, including employees and future talent, investors, rating and ranking agencies, civil society and international organisations, industry groups, government, consumers etc.;
  • Develop toolkits, thought leadership and specific outputs (from presentations and board papers to website or intranet content);
  • Ensure that One Voice, One Message, One Direction on the sustainability narrative is consistent and effective across various channels;
  • Collaborate closely with the Communications to engage with media, and drive communication efforts to enhance Opella’s reputation and transparency regarding environmental, social, and governance practices;
  • Work closely with the sustainability reporting team to provide key communications support (objectives, content, structure, key message, etc.) in the development and execution of Opella’s annual sustainability disclosures in line with CSRD and other reporting requirements.

About you:

We believe that professionals with the following experience and skillsets are well-suited for this position:

Education

  • Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (communications, sustainability, etc.);
  • Advanced degree preferred.

Skills/Experience

  • 8+ years relevant experience in sustainability, communications, positioning or all three, coming with a strong external network (e.g. UN, WEF, government agencies, industry organizations, civil society, etc.);
  • Ability to develop credible, simple and concise yet impactful messaging;
  • Experience working with senior leadership communications and messaging;
  • Strong understanding of how to land the right sustainability messaging with different stakeholder audiences;
  • Demonstrated experience working with international teams;
  • Preferred - Experience working in healthcare or fast-moving consumer products industries.

Organisational skills

  • Excellent ability to multi-task and consolidate an expansive array of topics and stakeholders;
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accountability in work quality.

Communication

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to write in flawless English; bilingual English-French preferred;
  • An ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, developing strong and collaborative working relationships.

Impact oriented

  • A hands-on, can-do attitude combined with an ability to work strategically and seize opportunities;
  • Ability to work at pace and deliver key milestones.

Languages

  • Professional proficiency in English, both in understanding, speaking and writing;
