Your responsibilities

  • Ensure that the project-specific overall concept for securing and complying with the HSSE expectations and requirements, based on the HSSE standards of Uniper, the client, and the applicable regulations.
  • Develop and implement a project site safety management system, appropriate for the delivery and execution phase of projects or joint ventures.
  • Promote and further develop the New Green Power and Gas Business’s 'Safe from Day One' concept, including front-end development and early involvement of HSSE risks and opportunities within the project development stages, through to the final handover of the project.
  • Work with the Project Site Manager on the selection of leading indicators and developing a positive, supportive working culture.
  • Support the HSSE&S team in developing standards and tools to support projects across Uniper, within the Project Management Framework.
  • Undertake HSSE&S inspections at project sites, monitoring for compliance with local regulations and Uniper internal requirements.
  • Support Procurement or other supporting functions in the HSSE&S assessment of contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with Uniper requirements.
  • Further promote our learning culture from pro-active good practice aspects, as well undertake incident investigations using recognised methods such as BSCAT or the 5-Whys Methodology.
  • Support demolition projects in the UK, to the same level as the above.

Your profile

  • Ideally, a degree holder in a related subject such as Safety or Engineering, with relevant qualifications in safety (minimum education level requirement NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction).
  • Knowledge and experience of working on major projects and EPC Contracts.
  • A self-motivated and established customer-oriented professional with experience delivering in a technical or managerial role in the process or energy industries.
  • Accustomed to working logically and methodically to meet challenging deadlines and presenting output to Management Teams.
  • Professional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling confident delivery at all levels.
  • Knowledge of UK Legislation and Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Lead Auditor Skills.
  • A good command of English is essential.
  • Additional languages such as German, Swedish, or Dutch would be beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel across the E.U. and UK to visit projects and third parties as required.
