Responsibilities:

As a Quantitative Analyst, you will need strong analytical skills and a keen interest in the energy sector, looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Collaborating in the definition and implementation of the optimization of energy sales strategy and hedging policy with the aim of increasing portfolio profits and reducing market and operational risk in a volatile power market.
  • Design, development, and implementation of algorithms and mathematical or statistical models intended to evaluate portfolio performance under varying market conditions and impact of hedge strategies.
  • Develop and maintain advanced quantitative models for risk assessment, pricing, forecasting, and portfolio optimization across gas and renewable power assets.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to develop models for assessing market risk, credit risk, and counterparty risk, incorporating key market and financial variables.
  • Manage the company’s Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system and ensure that models are fully integrated with it to support real-time analysis and decision-making.
  • Identifyg areas where data automation can improve the efficiency and accuracy of energy trading and risk management activities.
  • Conduct back testing of strategies and analyze performance.
  • Development and definition of tools to facilitate the analysis and visualization of the portfolio position and evaluation of hedges ensuring proper reporting of P&L and risk metrics.
  • Monitoring the performance of the data automation processes and identifying opportunities for further optimization and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Front Office to provide data-driven support for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) structuring, fuel procurement, and hedging strategies.

Requirements

  • Relevant academic background in a quantitative field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in the energy sector (energy management/trading/consulting) as quantitative analyst or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of usual revenue structures for gas and renewable assets and advanced modelling experience (Excel spreadsheets or others).
  • Experience with designing, developing, and supporting complex analytical systems:
    • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel in spreadsheets macros, custom functions, VBA, etc.
    • Must have experience with data visualization (Power BI) and presentation tools (advanced Power Point).
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly.
  • Knowledge of the energy business.
  • Comfortable with trading and finance concepts.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to reprioritize with changing requirements.
