About the Opportunity
- Develop and Implement Strategies: Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies to promote sustainable development.
- Compliance: Monitor and ensure the organisation complies with environmental legislation and stays updated with relevant regulations.
- Pollution Control and Waste Management: Coordinate efforts related to pollution control, waste management, recycling, and renewable energy.
- Environmental Audits: Conduct environmental audits and impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Training and Awareness: Provide guidance and training to construction teams on environmental issues and best practices to promote awareness at all organisational levels.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports on environmental performance reports and documentation to senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Sustainability: Lead and promote sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement in environment performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with local authorities, regulatory bodies, stakeholders and contractors to address environmental matters.
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is advantageous.
Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as CEnv, IEMA, Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) or Registered Environmental Manager (REM) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of UK environmental regulations and standards with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental management (particularly ISO 14001), policy development, and compliance. Preferably in the construction industry.
Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to manage projects and work independently and collaboratively with various departments.
