Purpose of the position:
The Senior Sustainability & Government Affairs Manager reports to the Corporate & ESG Officer and is based in the company’s head office in Budapest. She/he is responsible for the Group’s public relations, public policy and Sustainability/ESG functions. She/he develops government relations and public policy and strategy, builds and monitors relations with key industry groups and with European institutions and governments’ officials while developing a strategy with respect to specific objectives set in cooperation with Senior Management. The Senior Sustainability & Government Affairs Manager is passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of the low-cost model and to defend the interests of the Group in a fast-changing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the implementation of the Group Sustainability Strategy and Sustainability Reporting functions;
- Proactive monitoring and analysis of ESG / Sustainability reporting best practice and emerging disclosure requirements, to ensure improved sustainability reporting performance;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect information regarding the company’s ESG performance across all functions such as operations, HR, finance, purchasing and customer;
- Support the company’s corporate sustainability disclosures including alignment with reporting frameworks (TCFD, GRI, CSRD, CDP), data aggregation and associated controls;
- Actively participate in the preparations to ensure Wizz Air’s EU CSRD-compliant reporting;
- Lead the drafting process of the Group’s annual sustainability disclosures;
- Drive the Group’s participation in sustainability ratings processes;
- Monitor and assess European Union (e.g. Green Deal) and country specific sustainability and climate change regulations;
- Drive the preparation of the Company’s net zero transition plan;
- Synthesis of position papers and presentations to the members of the Senior Management for meetings with key stakeholders;
- Conduct sustainability benchmarking for aviation decarbonisation best practices;
- Development and maintenance of effective relationships with the public sector, industry regulatory bodies and relevant stakeholders’ groups;
- Representation of the Group’s interests through interacting with public sector officials, regulatory bodies, European institutions and other stakeholder.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- Master’s degree in business, finance, or related field is an advantage;
- 5-10 years of relevant sustainability, regulatory, or financial reporting in a multinational company or in the public sector;
- Experience in managing teams;
- Excellent written and oral English skills;
- Strong presentation skills and proficient at using excel and PowerPoint;
- Business and financial competence to evaluate risks and opportunities;
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team and environment;
- Airline or hard-to-abate sector experience is an advantage;
- Ability to live and work in Budapest, Hungary;
- High degree of independence;
- Flexibility to travel as required away from Head Office.
