Managing Consultant - Energy and Climate Policy

What You Will Do:

  • Become part of our team to work on projects to accelerate the green energy transition nationally and globally. Our projects tackle critical aspects of the energy transition such as smart grids and the integration of renewables to the power sector, decarbonization in industry, and the ramp up of the hydrogen value chain;
  • Under guidance and support of project leadership, you will contribute to successful project implementation by leading work streams in large scale projects. Based on strong analytical skills, you will provide fact-based recommendations and solutions, be responsible for stakeholder and partner management, supporting the team management of large-scale programs and ensure various deliverables such as analyses, thematic roundtables and workshops involving the private sector, grid operators and policy-makers are implemented successfully. You will work on projects for public institutions and industry clients on national, EU, and international level;
  • Build good relationships with the wider Guidehouse team and establish client and industry networks and uphold Guidehouse’s values of respect, integrity, innovation, stewardship and excellence and support our culture of inclusion & diversity.

What You Will Need:

  • Ideally 5-7 years of professional experience in relevant fields, e.g. with grid operators, utilities or a consultancy;
  • Strong teamwork skills, demonstrated the willingness and ability to work effectively in the consulting business with diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels;
  • Passion to work on sustainability, innovation and energy transition, a critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creativity in problem-solving;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively (both virtually and in-person) in an independent, proactive manner;
  • Able to work on multiple projects and show a good understanding of the project objectives and client expectations;
  • Proactive approach to work and first experience leading tasks within projects;
  • Solid understanding of renewables grid integration challenges and options, smart grids and/or various smart grid applications;
  • Comfortable communicating and presenting project results internally and externally;
  • Master’s degree or similar relevant academic background in (energy/environmental/electrical/mechanical) engineering, energy policy, economics and social sciences with significant focus on energy;
  • Strong knowledge of relevant power system and market trends and mechanisms is an asset;
  • As a global company we work with clients primarily in English, so English language skills are a must, fluency in other languages (e.g. German, French, Arabic, Turkish) is a bonus;
  • Willingness to travel and strong interest in working internationally (esp. MENA region) on occasion.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Proven extracurricular activities and/or international experience, preferably with relevant internship or some related work experience.
