About the role

Are you passionate about the wind industry? Do you want to apply your onshore wind expertise to solve complex technical and commercial issues together with our clients who are shaping the energy transition?

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join the German wind team in our Department for Project Development and Project Engineering, with primary focus on the onshore wind market in Germany. You will be part of an international team of advisors involved in onshore wind projects related to the planning, development, construction and operation phase of wind farm projects. Projects vary across services such as technical and/or commercial studies, technical reports and consulting related to due-diligence, project development support, construction monitoring and other services for onshore wind turbine technologies. Your projects will be focused on, but not limited to, onshore wind, but can also include other renewables such as offshore wind, solar and battery/storage.

With an independent and pro-active attitude, you demonstrate strong initiative, an analytical approach and the ability to make efficient technical and commercial judgements. You thrive with high-paced project work, and cope efficiently with a wide variety of tasks. You will be able to apply your project management and technical skills to a rapidly growing and prospering renewable energy technology consulting field. You will be responsible for providing project deliverables according to high-quality standards of DNV, whilst maintaining client interactions and providing them with ongoing support.

You will be based in Germany (preferably Hamburg or Oldenburg), although you will have extensive contact with colleagues across DNV since the projects are often staffed with muti-disciplinary experts in the company.

Key tasks and deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide clients with technical support related to planning and developing wind farm concepts and projects;
  • Lead and participate in wind project technical due diligences, discussing and resolving technical issues with project developers and lenders/investors, supporting clients through to financial close of projects;
  • Customer contact and project management, including managing complex, technical projects from inception through to completion;
  • Participate in business development activities, especially for the German onshore wind market. Build relationships and manage interfaces with clients, contributing to driving the wind industry forwards;
  • Lead and support the preparation of proposals, especially for Germany-based customers and/or related with the German onshore wind market;
  • Conduct site visits and construction monitoring activities, sometimes abroad;
  • Draw on the full breadth of the in-depth knowledge in DNV expert teams to deliver on client needs;
  • Mentor and guide juniors.

About you

To maximize your chances, you need:

  • MSc degree in a relevant engineering field is required (e.g. in mechanical/electrical/industrial/civil engineering);
  • Understanding of the development process of onshore wind farms in Germany. A relevant network in the German wind power industry is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of wind project development, construction and operation;
  • Professional experience in technical due diligence work of onshore wind projects;
  • Strong project Management skills, good organizational and effective time management skills as you may be required to handle multiple projects;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Fluency in German and English;
  • Ability to produce clear written reports in German and English;
  • Valid driver’s license (B);
  • Willingness and ability to travel to wind farm sites, conferences, clients, and internal meetings.
