In the role of Wind & Solar Analyst you will part of our active recruitment programme which will support you to become an expert in the field and able to deliver energy yield assessments of the highest quality. You will very quickly be contributing to the delivery of the industry leading consultancy services that our growing Analysis Services team provides to clients developing renewable energy projects across the world.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to our industry-leading research and development projects. Recent R&D projects have included industry-leading studies into real-world turbine performance, the advancement of engineering models of turbine wake effects and the largest published validation of offshore wind farm energy yield assessment.

You will be working in a dynamic and ambitious team, where many team members have more than 10 years’ experience in wind or solar analysis and have previously worked at leading consultancies, developers and operators.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Wind & Solar Analyst your role will involve:

  • Analysis and interpretation of measured wind data, solar data, or turbine SCADA data;
  • Analysis of long-term trends using reference meteorological data;
  • The modelling of wind flows over wind farm sites using a range of models, such as RANS CFD and mesoscale;
  • Calculation of long-term energy yield, including consideration of energy yield losses such as wake effects and turbine performance losses for wind farms, or irradiance and degradation losses for solar farms;
  • Written and verbal communication of complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Effective teamwork to deliver projects on time and to budget;
  • Site visits to assess wind and solar measurements, terrain and ground cover.

About you:

To excel in this role, you’ll need to have:

  • A 2:1 minimum MEng or equivalent in engineering, physics, meteorology or mathematics;
  • A-Level, higher or equivalent in Maths with grade A or better;
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • The flexibility and enthusiasm to thrive in an expanding business;
  • Strong interest in renewable energy.
