The Renewables & Urban Business Line of Laborelec provides business-focused research and expertise services to energy operators worldwide in the fields of solar, wind, hybrid and flexible assets, future home and collective communities, e-Mobility, lighting and energy storage.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities as Wind Energy Data Analyst (F/M/X)

  • Monitoring the performance of operating wind parks using SCADA systems and specific measurement tools to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Optimizing wind farm operations through advanced wind farm control techniques, utilizing real-time data and control algorithms.
  • Managing wind assets throughout their lifecycle, combining real-time measurements and advanced analytics to ensure structural health and performance.
  • Developing methodologies and tools to evaluate the impact of control actions on performance and structural health, using versatile analyses of operational data.
  • Interpreting and reporting findings from operational data analyses to colleagues and external research sponsors, and lead small to medium-sized R&I projects in wind farm control, including participation in international initiatives such as EU projects.

  • We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with a passion for applied Research & Innovation, able to work well independently as well as part of a team. Strongly interested in renewable energy, and wind energy specifically

Do you?

  • Have a Master’s degree in engineering with a strong background in renewable energies.
  • Have 3-4+ years of experience in data analytics related to renewable energy assets.
  • Have strong programming skills in Python, and knowledge of Fortran, C++, or R, along with expertise in data analytics.
  • Have proficiency in English, both spoken and written, with knowledge of Dutch and/or French being advantageous but not required.
  • Consider yourself self-motivated and organized, with strong communication skills allowing you to interact with various stakeholders, including Engie R&I sponsors and European research partners.

Additionally, experience in any of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Wake modeling using CFD or engineering wake models (e.g., Floris or PyWake).
  • Aeroelastic computations with the OpenFAST wind turbine simulation tool.
  • Long-term energy yield assessment studies using WRF, meso-micro, or standard industrial models.
  • Control system design and testing.
  • Field measurement campaigns monitoring of environmental conditions, wind turbine performance, and/or loads on wind turbine components, including data interpretation.
